Government Value Proposition: Agenda Includes Large Government-Only Meeting Space and Discussions

The AFCEA Central Virginia Chapter - located in Charlottesville, Virginia - is in a unique position to unite and strike the perfect blend between government agencies (DoD, IC, and Civilian), established industry partners, industry startups, and academia.

With this convenient, historic, and beautiful location, we are trying to foster an environment that supports collaboration between all government agencies and sub-agencies to share where their organization stands in their respective enterprise data journey and have an open forum with data professionals in a similar capacity. We recognize that each government entity varies in enterprise data strategy maturity and culture; and with this conference, we are attempting to enable experienced leaders to share their lessons-learned with those that are just starting their journey and discuss new concepts to address and solve challenges in this rapidly-changing, data-centric environment.

Bringing the adage of “rising tides raise all ships” to enterprise data strategy, I would like to invite the entire federal CDO council and their respective team of data professionals to come together for this event as a central meeting place where we can collectively empower data leadership, strategy, and culture for government organizations. In support of this endeavor, AFCEA Central Virginia has coordinated and added to their agenda a 200 person theater where we may have government-only discussions.

Additionally, I hope the following discussion points address some inquiries that may come up:

• Specialized focus on data for the federal government: We hope that this conference will be the perfect blend of government employee collaboration and industry expertise highly relevant for government enterprise data management, strategy, and planning.
• Composition of the event: This event is limited to 1000 people, with a goal of approximately 600 federal government personnel, 25 industry vendors, and 200 academicians.
• Cross-Functional Government Participation: We welcome participation from every government agency with the express goal of the event to enable sharing and refinement of enterprise data strategy. Most government entities have similar requirements and we want to enable sharing of concepts and capabilities. Although this is not an exhaustive list, we expect significant participation from: Special Operations Command, Army, Air Force, Navy, Department of Energy, NASA, and Health & Human Services.
• Latest trends and insights by government and industry leadership: Stay up to date with the latest data analytics, curation, storage, interfaces, and enterprise-ready AI/ML capabilities from a government perspective with excellent speakers featuring government CDO and CIO leaders and industry CTOs.
• Access to Innovation: In additional to established technologies, there will be informative sessions to learn about industry startup capabilities. Further, academia sessions in collaboration with the University of Virginia and Old Dominion University can serve as a guide for current research areas which help to shape future enterprise technologies.
• Certification and Credits: This AFCEA event allows for continuing education credits and certifications, beneficial for career advancement.
